Review by hotel critic
During my recent visit to the Minster, I found it a fine balance between luxury and sensible pricing. As an archaeologist who often navigates historical towns, I appreciated the hotel's prime location - just a short stroll from the Old Town Shambles and the stunning York Minster Cathedral. The private parking was a bonus, especially since driving in unfamiliar places can be daunting. The welcome was warm, setting the tone for my stay. Staff were consistently helpful throughout. A convenient 24-hour reception is a key advantage for solo travelers like me, who appreciate that extra layer of reassurance. Room 37 was adequately comfortable, though do be aware of the stairs if you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns. The daily housekeeping ensured I returned to a neat space, and the tea and coffee facilities in the room were a nice touch for a mid-day break. Breakfast provided a decent start to each day, and while I didn't indulge in the bar/lounge area, I could see it being a pleasant space to unwind. The pricing reflects both the amenities and the location, making this hotel a solid choice for travelers seeking a balance between comfort and value.
